Friends of Art
AVT is pleased to announce the newly formed Friends of Art/Navigation Press, a membership opportunity for collecting the latest in contemporary art. Over the past three decades, AVT has established a national reputation in the fine arts. Building on that reputation, a master printmaking and publishing program— Navigation Press: Prints, Books, and Multiples—was established this past year. Navigation Press will invite distinguished artists with works in leading museum collections to make prints in collaboration with a team of printmaking faculty and graduate and undergraduate students at Mason. World-renowned Washingtonian Renee Stout will be the first 2006–07 Professional Lecture Series Distinguished Visiting Artist and resident artist for our Navigation Press. A public lecture, exhibit, and workshop with Stout (and other national artists to follow) will offer members and students wonderful opportunities to meet, work with, and engage the artist in discussions about making art, collecting art, and appreciating the contemporary art scene. Our students benefit greatly through the opportunity provided for them to work directly with a well-known contemporary master artist. Membership in Friends of Art offers an original print signed by the artist, private social gatherings and dinners, demonstrations and tours, and the satisfaction of supporting an outstanding educational process for our students. Individuals, businesses, and organizations are all invited to join the Friends Of Art/Navigation Press. For more information on becoming a Friend of Art, contact Harold Linton, AVT chair, at 703-993-4615 or linton@gmu.edu, or the department at 703-993-8898.
