Education: MFA in Imaging Arts, Fine Art Photography at Rochester Institute of Technology, NY
BFA in Fine Art Photography at Osaka University of Arts,
Japan.

With a BFA in Fine Art Photography from Osaka University of Arts, Japan and a MFA in Imaging Arts / Photography from the Rochester Institute of Technology, Aya Takashima teaches photography at both George Mason University and Northern Virginia Community College, and organizes the digital photography program at George Mason University. She is also an Assistant Technical Director of the department. Her work is often received as calm and meditative. Through the abstract nature of her work, she explores the perceptual understanding of seeing. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally and is presented in private collections.
